Brave New Workshop Student Union

Our improvisation classes for youth take an individual focus -- we help each student find their own path to creativity and "play" on stage. We emphasize instinctive play, listening, group and individual trust, as well as ensemble dynamics and basic acting. These classes are held in a highly supportive environment -- our goal is to help each student fall in love with improvisation and find more self confidence.

We have all sorts of opportunities to dive into the world of improvisation!

Youth Pizza Jams/Jr. Pizza Jams
Spend a Saturday morning learning improvisation and eating pizza! The Pizza Jam is perfect for those with little to no previous improv experience.
Pizza Jams are open to kids aged 9-17.

Youth Improv Camps!
From Intro to Improv to advanced genre studies, the Youth Improv Camps offer opportunities for new and experienced students. Each camp ends with a performance for friends and family.
Camps are offered in the Winter and in the Summer.
Camps are open to students aged 9-12 and 13-17.

Ready to truly dive in to the world of improv? The Youth Performance Team rehearses every Sunday between Sep. and May and performs on the first Sunday of every month. Auditions for the Youth Performance Team are held in August.

The Pizza Jam is a day-long introduction to the world of improvisation. Students participate in a variety of theatre and improvisation games in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment, and they get to enjoy some pizza. Pizza Jams are open to youth ages 13 – 17, while the Junior Pizza Jam is open to youth ages 9-12. Workshop includes pizza and soda. Cost is $40 per Jam. No experience necessary.

Our improv camps for youth focus on creating a fun and safe environment for all participants to explore their own creativity and the art of improv. These classes are a great opportunity for students that want to learn improvisation while meeting new friends. The camps end with a show for family and friends. The BNW: Student Union offers camps in the summer and winter, for kids from 9 to 17. The one week and two week camps range from $150-275.

The Youth Performance Team is our advanced program for teens who have participated in other BNW Student Union youth programs. The Youth Team meets weekly throughout the year (currently on Sundays) and typically performs once or more a month. This team works independently with their director to establish their own goals, and create their own performance style. An audition is required for admission into the Youth Performance Team. The cost is $640 a year. Payment plans are available.
