Brave New Workshop

Exploring Improv:
A Taste of Living in the Moment

When was the last time your day went exactly the way you planned it? It doesn't happen often, does it? Life is very much like improv, full of surprises and unknowns! The Brave New Workshop is the oldest comedy theatre in the US, and their world-renowned school of improvisation, the BNW Student Union, invites you to get a taste of this amazing art form in an abbreviated version of its beginner class. Embrace the spirit of positivity and unleash your creativity in this exploration even if you have never been or want to be on stage.

The skilled instructors from the BNW Student Union have years of experience working with adults and youth, and will gently guide you through a series of well-tested exercises that will introduce you to the idea of creative safety and help you practice being in the moment.

Perfect for:
Social groups, clubs, students, tour groups, non-profits, teachers, anyone with an interest in improvisation or trying new things, individuals who are considering signing up for an improv class, who want to test the waters first.

What this experience is not:
  • A deep dive into the philosophies and techniques of improvisation
  • A scary experience
  • A custom-tailored offering
  • A way to bridge improvisational skills to business objectives or needs.
  • If you would like to explore opportunities for team-building or training for your corporate group or team please contact BNW's Creative Outreach at
